Rock Education is a fully integrated e-commerce site that sells high quality training resources to geography teachers who work within keystages 2-5. The sites main focus is on delivering it’s products as digital downloads so customers have instant access to the material they are looking for.

One of the main issues when developing the site was determining how users could quickly find the training material they are after. Due to the large number of products available, we had to devise a solid solution for searching and came up with three options. The category section splits each product into groups based on the topic it belonged to, the resource it provided and the age group it was aimed at. The keyword search allows products to be quickly searched for by entering specific text. The advanced search helps users define a customised search scope and only find products what relate to exactly what they are after.

Due to our understanding of site searches and the importance it has on usability, we worked closely with the client and have built a solid system that enables people to quickly find exactly what they are after.

The other main aspect of the site is the delivery of products. The site is slightly different to the majority of e-commerce sites out there in that the delivery is by digital download (postage options are also available). The system generates unique tokens that customers use to securely access their purchased downloads.
